The sixth grade!

In sixth grade this year, I achieved a lot of things. Before sixth grade, I couldn't make a lot of friends, but this year, I managed succesfully. First of all, I got better grade this time than in 1st trimester. I could manage to work and cooperate well with my friends and succeed to get good grades. I look forward to greater grades next year! I also hope that I would make more friends than now.
This year, there are a lot of things I've learned. I learnt how to simplify the fractions accurately. I also learnt how to talk to friends without much of a problem. I was really shy and couldn't raise my hand to ask question. However, now I can ask questions without having to talk like a shy boy. I look forward to learning more things! I know that I would learn a lot next year.
I learnt a lot of skills this year, but no one can master all the skills. I have more skills that I want to learn nad master. The skills are like not having to move when reading books and enduring the need to go to bathroom and to drink water. Another skill I want to learn is to sit down on a chair for more than 5 hours without moving or fidgeting. These skills would help my grades go up. Then me and my parents would be happy. I really hope that I would master these skills by the end of sixth grade.
Just like others, I have some goals I want to reach. One of my goal is to make way more friends I could talk to and hang out with. It would be really fun. Also, another goal is to read 100 books until the end of sixth grade. I know these would be hard but I will TRY to reach these goals. I hope I can reach them to make myself proud! That way I want my parents to be proud of their own son.

Lit.Circle 4@!~

This discussion was our second last discussion we would have in triemester 2. I hoped that it would be really fun and exciting just like other discussions we discussed. So, we started as usual, with our passages. I had a really long passage that was almost one page. I said that it was very and super brave of Charlotte to help out the crews when there was a hurricane coming. I also said that it was very brave not to even faint when she founds out that the hurricane was attacking them. My group members which are TJ and Chloe said some wonderful passages about who killed Mr. Hollybrass and what they think killed him. However, it was unfortunate that Catherine wasn't able to make her passsages, but TJ and Chloe had some good ones. TJ explained about how Zachariah was alive and hearing it was fascinating. Next we discussed our quiestions. My question was that would you want to believe that Zachariah is alive if you were Charlotte, why? and my answer was yes because Charlotte was Zacharia h's best friend and Zachariah helped Charlotte with a lot of other things so Charlotte misses him. TJ's questions were good but one of them was a yes or no question. Still others (Catherine and Chloe)'s questions and the response was good enough to cover the mistake TJ made. Finally, we discussed our vocabularies. One of my vocabulary was notion and I had no idea what it meant first. Others had superb vocabularies and I never knew any of them. So after that, our discussion ended. It was really good discussion and I hope that on the last discussion, we would have the best discussion ever!

Lit.Circle 3 !~

Just as before, I knew that this discussion would be fun and exciting. As usual, TJ, Chloy and Catherine and I sat around the table getting ready to start the discussion. Mr. Thomas told us to share what we like about the book and what we are looking forward to. I was looking forward to Captain drowning and what I liked was that there was a lot of exciting parts happening in the story. TJ was looking forward to the hurricane hitting the ship and he liked that there was a fun parts similar to mine. Catherine and Chloy's sharing were really similar to mine and TJ. You get the idea... Next, we shared our passages as usual. One of my passage was when Charlotte was climbing up to free the sail and she got dropped into the sea, I thought that it was very kind of the crew to change the course to find easier water for Charlotte to climb up. One of Catherine's passage was when Charlotte begged Captain to forgive her after she whipped him on the face, Catherine thought that if Charlotte hit Captain Jaggery, why did she come to get forgiveness? That is what Catherine disagreed with Charlotte. One of Chloy's passage was when the captain was beating Zachariah so hard, she said that captain is really cruel and shouldn't do it. TJ's passage was when Charlotte begged to the crew AND the captain for forgiveness. He thought that Charlotte is kind of unfair to ask all of them. Next was our questions. One of my question was what evidences do the story give that proves Zachariah is dead. I answered that when Charlotte realized that the hammock was wrapping Zachariah's body. Next and our final was our vocabularies. One of my vocabulary word was incredulous. Just like before, I think that I had fun by having this discussion and I hope I get to do this discussion more later.

LIt.Circle Discussion 2!

Since we have done our first group discussion, we had to do our second group discussion. In my group are TJ, Catherine, Choly and me. We sat on our seats then began our discussionl. We all started with each other's passages. Most of their passage was really interesting and understandable except some passages where I couldn't tell what was going on. TJ had a fantastic passage where he told what he thought and the fact from the story. I hoped I could make my passage like that! After sharing our passages, we started with our questions. This time, I thought I had a good question by asking why did Zachariah want revenge on captain Jaggery, but as I thought back, I found out that the question wasn't really good and learned maybe the story would tell the answer. I remember that Mr. Thomas told us not to ask questions when the story would later tell the answer. I regretted that I wrote that question. Next we shared our vocabularies. This time everybody had really good vocabularies. I wrote down sheath and scampering. I hope I can type what other groups wrote but I forgot what they asked. Again, I think this discussion went really well and I had fun.

Literature Circles Discussion!

Today in humanities class, we were to have a discussion with our book group. Our book was 'The true confession of Charlotte Doyle'. In my group were TJ, Catherine, Cloy and me. However some of us couldn't bring their questions, signaficant passages and vocabularies paper done. So they couldn't participate in this discussion. The only people left in our group was TJ and me. So we two started discussing about the book. TJ made a really good question. He asked, what was the reason captain Jaggery named the ship 'Seahawk'. I was kind of sure that it was a discussion question, because there were more answers than one. I answered maybe captain's first pet was seahawk when the seahawk died and the captain wanted the ship to be the reminder of the seahawk. My question was that why was the people keep telling Charlotte Doyle that she shouldn't be here in this ship. TJ said that it was because there was some bad and horrible plan going on to kill or hurt Charlotte Doyle. I wasn't so sure about the exact answer. I would have to keep reading to find out. One of my vocabulary word was distorted and complexion. It was pretty hard vocabulary words. I couldn't really remember TJ's vocabularies but I remember saying 'WHOA! THAT IS HARD!' The discussion was really fluent and we were reading the next chapters when the two left out people joined us and told us to listen to their questions. It was really noisy then. However we manged to finish the discussion and it was really fun!!!

'Courage' Entry#3

Before 3 weeks ago, I didn't know how to juggle the ball 20 times without the ball touching the ground. However when I tried to just warm up before the upcoming soccer match, I succeeded juggling the ball without much effort. That really surprised me. Well... how this juggling effected me was that I became more interested in soccer and now, I think I am gettting better at skills. Therefore, I am now challenging for 30 times of juggling. I hope I can make it!

Social Scientists

We I had to choose one of the social scientist which are Geograher, Historian, Anthtropologist, Archaeologist and Paelontologist I would rather choose a Geographer. I have three reasons for it. The first reason is that the Geographer won't usually go out to do more searching and meet an unexpected danger and ( if unlucky ) would get seriously hurt. The second reason is that I really like to draw and record charts and such. It would be really exciting for me to do those kind of things. Finally the last reason is that if there is a war or something terrible going on, I would be able to go into hiding with the map I've recorded and drawn. So I think that I would be really suitable for this subject and work.

Blog entry #1:

Hi guys, my name is Eric Kang! I have 4 people in my family including me. Well I am not really tall and funny but I really like to play sports such as badminton and ping pong. My hobbies are as I said, playing sports with my friends and dad. I am 12 years old and I am from South Korea. I am really proud of being a Korean! Last three books I have read was Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallow, Harry Pottter and the Half- blood prince and Harry Potter and the Order of the phoenix. I really like Harry Potter books and have read all the series. By the way, the author's name is J.K Rolling. In addition, the last movie I have watched was Harry Potter and Half-blood prince! It was super exciting. My academic goal for this year is to get really good grade in Humanities because english is my second language and I want to challenge myself! My social goal this year is to meet really good friends to play this year and all the other years. My favorite vacation memory was when I was fishing in the resort called Avillion and caught a big and fierce crab! It was facinating. To describe myself with the adjectives... well I am kind of neat, clean, hopeful, positive and silent when I am studying. OK! I will finish here about myself. Thank you for reading.
